Biography

Joe Dolan is thrilled to be back in South Florida at Abacoa G.C. after fourteen years in Arizona and Colorado. During that time Joe was the Director of Instruction at the Sedona Golf Resort in Sedona Arizona, where he had a large and loyal following throughout his Golf Schools, clinics and Junior Golf. For several years, he was a mini tour player in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area. For the past three years Joe was the Director of Instruction at Tiara Rado G.C. in Grand Junction Colorado. Joe was regularly booked three weeks in advance because of his effectiveness as an instructor. Throughout his career, Joe has brought to each community his passion and commitment to world class instruction, while building active junior programs for each area’s youth.

Joe’s career in Florida began back in mid 1980’s at PGA National. He went on to Broken Sound G.C. in Boca Raton and Breakers West as personal aide to world renowned instructor Peter Kostis. On a daily basis, Joe witnessed the greatest instruction being taught to the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Andy Bean, Bernhard Langer, and Mark Calcavecchia. Everyday was a lifetime in learning.

In 1973 Joe was introduced to golf at Bala G.C. in Philadelphia. He spent eight years as a caddy, also working in the Pro Shop and grounds crew. Many talented local Professionals and highly successful players influenced his early understanding of the golf swing. Philadelphia, with a longtime history of golf, was the perfect place to instill the traditions and values of the game.

In his youth, he regularly caddied for Frank Chirkinian and Chuck Will, longtime producers for CBS golf. These relationships led to an eight year career in productions with CBS on the PGA Tour. Throughout those years Joe observed countless interactions among the elite of the game.

Annually at the Master’s golf tournament, he had the privilege to hear Gene Sarazen and Byron Nelson having in depth conversations with Ken Venturi. He would listen to Tom Weiskopf and Bob Murphy discuss philosophy with Dave Marr. On a Daily basis, working for Gary McCord and Peter Kostis, Joe spent countless hours on the Practice tee doing interviews and performing swing analysis. Top teachers such as Mac O’Grady, David Leadbetter and Jim McLean would drop in occasionally, resulting in a constant exchange of ideas and inputs on the golf swing and the game.

All of these experiences have brought Joe to the highest of standards in golf instruction.
